Nile Valley Aquaponic
Nile Valley Aquaponics was established with a mission to create healthier choices, health education, volunteer opportunities and economic stability in the urban core of Kansas City, MO. It envisions an urban neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri that is safer and healthier to live in, because neighborhood youth are engaged in the meaningful work of creating a sustainable food system. Through the process of learning how to grow food and vegetables, conserve natural resources, and operate a business, youth build self-esteem and confidence in problem-solving, speaking in front of groups, and taking responsibility as community leaders. Likewise, adults and families in the community learn these skills, have access to affordable and healthy foods produced, increase industry related employability and practice methods and lessons from educational experiences about overall healthier preparation and consumption. NVA serves as a center point in the community through its programs and services as a source of unification; it brings people together to promote and achieve quality of life results.
